Our thoughts are simple, your personal investment data is yours.
Our unwavering focus on security and privacy underpins everything we create.
No, except if you authorize a person to access your AssetView portfolios or if we are legally compelled in which case your data is still encrypted by your passphrase. Your personal investment data is yours. Personal investment data includes your balances, holdings, and transactions.
Personal Investment Data (your balances, positions, and transactions) is stored locally on your computer. Backups are stored in AssetView’s Cloud. Personal Investment Data is encrypted during transport and at rest. Our approach and tool set are constantly evolving to address the ever-changing dynamics of data security.
Yes. AssetView provides a facility within the application to delete a portfolio. When you delete your portfolio, backups of the portfolio in Assetview’s cloud are also deleted. If you use multiple computers, you must delete your portfolio on each computer.
No. Ensuring privacy and security starts at the very first touch point. To create an AssetView account, we use Clerk, an industry leader in secured authentication. Your information is communicated directly with Clerk. We allow you to log in to AssetView using Clerk’s two-factor authentication methods. AssetView does not store your authentication credentials (e.g. password, Oauth, secure key). Please store your credentials carefully. Without your credentials, your Personal Investment Data is inaccessible.
No. After you authenticate, you set your Passphrase, another layer of security. A Passphrase is a set of characters you designate that is required to open your portfolios. Your passphrase is not stored in AssetView. AssetView automatically generates and provides you with a recovery kit which is also not stored in AssetView. Please store your passphrase and recovery kit in a secure location. Your Personal Investment Data is protected by encryption and is therefore inaccessible without either your passphrase or your recovery kit.
AssetView may collect data such as your name, device session identifier, action, pages viewed, and functions used. The portion of this data that makes it possible to identify you directly is Personal Data. This Personal Data, under strict conditions, is used for operations such as billing and marketing. Personal Data stored locally or in AssetView’s Cloud is encrypted during transport and at rest. All data that AssetView collects that is not Personal Data is referred to as Non-Personal Data, which AssetView may release in the aggregate.
AssetView uses Select Partners because their commitment to privacy and security aligns with our core values, and their technology is industry leading. Select Partners are independent entities from AssetView, and so AssetView is not responsible for the way Select Partners use data. Please consult with them directly to review their policies thoroughly before using AssetView. Select Partners are Plaid (optional connectivity to financial institutions), Stripe (payment processing), and Clerk (authentication as described above).
If you prefer not to link your institutions, easily enter your accounts and positions directly in AssetView. If you prefer a high degree of automation, connect your brokerage and banking accounts using AssetView’s Plaid read-only connector. AssetView will then automatically create your accounts and assets, and keep them up to date any time you sync. Your credentials are communicated directly with Plaid. AssetView does not store your financial institution credentials.
AssetView uses Stripe for payment processing of your subscription to AssetView. Your payment information is collected directly by Stripe. AssetView does not store your payment method information. Instead, AssetView stores a token from Stripe that enables payment processing of your subscription to AssetView.
If you choose to install Apps for AssetView that are created by AssetView, then your Personal Investment Data is protected in the same strict way as for the core of AssetView. If you choose to install Apps for AssetView that are created by third-party developers (“3PDs”), you will sign a separate security and privacy agreement directly with the 3PD. When you first set up AssetView, no 3PD Apps are installed. You choose what to install and when.
