Our thoughts are simple, your personal investment data is yours.

Our unwavering focus on security and privacy underpins everything we create.

At AssetView, we believe your personal investment data belongs to you—not to us, not to advertisers, not to third parties. This isn't just a policy statement; it's the foundation of everything we build. We've designed AssetView with an end-to-end encrypted privacy-first architecture where your personal investment data is stored locally on your device protected by a passphrase only you control. It's the cornerstone of our rigorous security practices and our unwavering commitment to your privacy and security.

Your Data, Your Control

Understanding how AssetView keeps your financial information secure and private
Your Personal Investment Data Stays Private
Your Personal Investment Data—including balances, holdings, and transactions—is in your control. You may choose to authorize a person to access your portfolios through AssetView's portfolio sharing function. You may revoke access at any time. When you revoke a sharing privilege, users lose access to future updates but retain previously shared data.
Local-First Storage
Personal Investment Data is encrypted and stored locally on your computer. Backups are stored in AssetView's Cloud and are end-to-end encrypted. In both cases, the encryption is protected by a password under your sole control.
Data Deletion Control
AssetView provides an in-app feature that allows you to delete a portfolio. When you delete a portfolio, we initiate a process to delete the associated backups from AssetView’s Cloud. If you use multiple computers, you must delete your portfolio on each computer to ensure complete removal.
Your Authentication Credentials are Not Stored
Privacy and security start at the very first touch point. We integrate with a widely-used, trusted, security-focused authentication provider to manage sign-in and identity verification. Your authentication information is transmitted directly to that provider, and we support multi-factor authentication. AssetView does not store your authentication credentials (such as your password, OAuth tokens, or security keys).
Your Recovery Kit
After you authenticate, you are provided with a Recovery Kit that includes a Secret Key—another layer of security required to open your portfolios. Your Secret Key is not stored in AssetView. Your Personal Investment Data is inaccessible without either your password or your Recovery Kit.
Personal Data Protection
AssetView may collect data such as your name, device session identifier, actions, pages viewed, and functions used. Personal Data, data that can identify you directly, is never sold. It is used for operations like billing and marketing. Personal Data is encrypted during transport and at rest.
App Data Security
Apps provided by AssetView protect your Personal Investment Data and Personal Data under the same strict standards as the core application. Apps provided by third-party developers (“3PD Apps”) are governed by their own privacy terms. No 3PD Apps are installed by default—you choose whether and when to install them. Apps are clearly labeled to indicate whether they are provided by AssetView or a third party.
AI Interactions
If you opt to use AssetView’s AI features, you choose the privacy level for sharing certain portfolio data with one or more third-party AI providers. AssetView applies technical controls to limit the detail shared and reduce the likelihood that shared data is personally identifiable. Ultimately, you control the scope of your AI conversations and are responsible for ensuring that you do not include personally identifiable information or other sensitive information.
Evolving Security Practices
Data security is an ongoing commitment. We maintain administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your financial information, including encryption, network controls, and periodic penetration testing. Our security practices and toolset continuously evolve to address the dynamics of data security.
