Our thoughts are simple – your personal investment data is yours.
Our unwavering focus on security and privacy underpins everything we create.
At AssetView, we believe your personal investment data belongs to you—not to us, not to advertisers, not to third parties. This isn't just a policy statement; it's the foundation of everything we build. We've designed AssetView with an end-to-end encrypted privacy-first architecture where your personal investment data is stored locally on your device protected by an encryption key only you control. It's the cornerstone of our rigorous security practices and our unwavering commitment to your privacy and security.
Your Data, Your Control
Understanding how AssetView keeps financial information secure and private
Local-First Storage
Your Personal Investment Data—including balances, holdings, and transactions—is encrypted and stored locally on your computer. Backups are stored in AssetView's Cloud and are end-to-end encrypted. The encryption is protected by a combination of a password and a Secret Key.
Your Authentication Credentials are Not Stored
AssetView uses a widely trusted third-party authentication provider to manage sign-in. The credentials you set and control to sign in, such as your password or security keys, are transmitted directly to that provider. Multi-factor authentication is supported. AssetView does not store your sign-in credentials.
Your Secret Key
In addition to the credentials you set and control, you are provided with a Secret Key—an additional layer of security. To unlock your portfolio on a new computer or in a different browser, your password and your Secret Key are both needed. The Secret Key is included in your Recovery Kit.
Limited Personal Data
A subscription to AssetView only requires an email address. Your payment for the subscription is through Stripe.
Sharing a Portfolio
You may choose to authorize a person to access your portfolios through AssetView's portfolio sharing function. You may share or revoke access at any time.
Deleting a Portfolio
When you delete a portfolio, we initiate a process to delete the associated backups from AssetView’s Cloud. If you use multiple computers, you must delete your encrypted portfolio on each computer to ensure complete removal.
App Data
Apps created by AssetView are subject to the same strict privacy and security standards as the core application. Apps provided by third-party developers (“3PD Apps”) are subject to their own terms and privacy practices. No 3PD Apps are installed by default—you decide if and when to install them.
AI Interactions
If you choose to use AssetView’s AI features, you may select the privacy level that governs sharing of portfolio data with AI models. AssetView applies technical controls designed to limit the level of detail shared and reduce the likelihood that shared data is personally identifiable. You control the scope of your AI interactions and are responsible for ensuring that you do not include personally identifiable information or other sensitive information.
Rigorous Security Practices
AssetView maintains administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your financial information, including encryption, network controls, and periodic penetration testing. Our security practices and toolset continuously evolve to address the dynamics of data security.
